Rapid Prototyping

Rapid Prototyping

When participating in hacking competitions, teams usually only have 24 hours to go from zero to a functional prototype that stands out. This experience taught us to iterate at lightning speed, creating prototypes that achieve a “wow effect” in record time. Here are a few examples of how our rapid prototyping skills have driven innovative solutions.

Hackathon Winning Project – Rehearsal Room

A Tool for Remote Music Collaboration

Challenge
Real-time communication tools like Google Meet or Microsoft Teams are not designed for latency-critical use cases such as remote singing or music jamming. The lag makes achieving synchronicity impossible.

Competition
The Edge Computing Hackathon in London, organized by ETSI, challenged participants to showcase the benefits of Edge Computing and 5G, such as low latency. It attracted teams from around the world.

Solution
We developed Rehearsal Room, a software and hardware solution that streams audio data over IP with significantly reduced latency. This enabled real-time remote karaoke and music jamming.

Outcome
The prototype earned first place, with recognition from a jury that included representatives from Telefonica, Huawei, and Intel.
Development Time: 3 days of preparation + 2 days of competition

Hackathon Winning Project – Quasimondo

A Smart Mat to Improve Posture

Challenge
At the beHealthy 2 Hackathon, organized by IHS Markit, participants had 24 hours to create health-related solutions from scratch.

Solution
Our team, which included a physiotherapist, created Quasimondo—a smart mat designed to help users maintain correct posture during long hours of sitting. The mat used a matrix of temperature sensors, a processing unit for data analysis, and an application to visualize posture data and send real-time correction notifications.

Outcome
The prototype was developed in 24 hours and won the competition, showcasing the power of combining domain expertise with rapid prototyping skills.
